Accepting the ABA

On June 12th, I had the honor of representing Wolters Kluwer’s ELM Solutions at the American Business Awards Gala in New York City. I was there to accept the gold award for Legal Information Solution, which was being presented to ELM Solutions for our Legal Holds solution. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to represent the company at such a prestigious event and was struck by the impressive scale and superb production of the awards gala and presentations. The awards are a celebration of excellence in business, and the event itself appropriately reflected that same excellence.

The Result of Great Teamwork

Our Legal Holds solution, which is available for both the Passport® and TyMetrix® 360° enterprise legal management platforms, automates the assignment, notification, and administration of custodian acknowledgements. The solution helps legal departments reduce their risk of court sanctions by creating a repeatable and defensible automated process that helps optimize staff resources while providing visibility into legal holds administration.

As I said in my acceptance speech, our award was the result of the efforts of many, many people. As the Product Management lead for Legal Holds, I understand very well that an award-winning solution is the end result of multiple teams of colleagues working together toward the same goal: delivering for our customers. Executives, developers, quality assurance specialists, and all teams across ELM Solutions collaborated to design and create a solution that makes our clients' lives easier by integrating a robust legal holds workflow into their legal department operations.

Importantly, I also used some of my time to thank our customers. They inspire us to innovate and aim high. Their partnership is incredibly valuable because they let us know what they need and help keep us on track while we design and build our solutions. We are very grateful for their contributions.

An Exciting Evening

As you might expect, it was a celebratory atmosphere where we had the chance to hear about the many types of products and companies that were recognized across industries. We had a talented emcee, who made us laugh while keeping the ceremony moving at a brisk pace. One of the best aspects of attending the ceremony was the opportunity to talk with the other honorees. At the pre-show cocktail hour and dinner, many attendees were networking and trading business cards, along with stories about their projects and solutions that had won awards.

I spoke with members of one team who were being honored for a live event recognizing a Congressional Medal of Honor winner. They were understandably proud to have helped celebrate an exceptional person, and it was a pleasure to see them rewarded and celebrated in turn for that work. While their award was for a very different kind of work than ours, what we had in common was that we were all grateful to represent very accomplished teams whose hard work had paid off.

The American Business Awards ceremony was an exciting event to be a part of. I am honored to have had the chance to accept the award on behalf of the company. This award belongs to everyone at ELM Solutions and the customers who help to make us the company we are.
